BAVO annually recognises and honours outstanding people and organisations that have made a significant contribution to our community during the past year at our Bridgend County Borough Volunteer Achievement Awards.

We are very much looking forward to this year's award ceremony to be held on Friday 8 November 2019 at the Heronston Hotel in Bridgend, when we will be recognising and honouring outstanding people and organisations that have made a significant contribution to our community.


Our deadline for sending nominations has now closed.

Every year thousands of individuals and groups volunteer across Bridgend County Borough give their time, energy, skills and commitment to help others in their community and we very much appreciate all your nominations!

At our award ceremony there will be eight categories:

  • Befriending/Mentoring Volunteer Award (sponsored by Valleys to Coast);
  • Volunteer of the Year Award under 25 (sponsored by Graham Paul Accountants);
  • Volunteer of the Year Award 25 and over;
  • Trustee of the Year Award;
  • Volunteer Project of the Year Award (sponsored by United Graphic Design);
  • Charity Shop of the Year Award;
  • Sports Volunteer of the Year Award;
  • Outstanding Volunteer Contribution Award (sponsored by Handelsbanken).

Nominations now open for brand new Charity Awards organised by WCVA

These awards organised by Wales Council Council for Voluntary Action, recognise and celebrate the fantastic contribution charities, community groups, not-for-profits and volunteers make to Wales.  From befrienders dropping in to visit their older neighbour every Tuesday, to organisations campaigning for nation-wide equality, the Awards highlight and champion the positive difference we can make to each other’s lives.

So if you know an organisation or individual that deserves to be celebrated, what are you waiting for? Nominate today!

This year, there are nine categories in which to nominate in the Welsh Charity Awards:

  • Change makers award;
  • Outstanding trustees award;
  • Best use of Welsh language award;
  • Community Engagement award;
  • Thriving charity award;
  • Volunteer of the Year (volunteers aged 26 or over);
  • Young Volunteer of the Year (volunteers aged 25 or under);
  • Volunteer Team of the Year;
  • Organisation of the Year.

Closing date for nominations – 2 October 2019 with announcement of shortlist week beginning 21 October 2019.

The Awards will be presented to winners and runners up at a glitzy ceremony in the National Museum, Cardiff on the 15 November 2019 (7pm-midnight). Be sure to put the date in your diary now!
