Health Protection Grant Overview
The Health Protection Grant provides seed funding to Third Sector and voluntary (not-for-profit) organisations operating within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) footprint. Funded activities must contribute to improving health protection and increasing vaccination uptake across CTM communities.
Administration and Support
Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO) administers the grant on behalf of the three Community Voluntary Councils (CVCs) in the Cwm Taf Region.

Due Diligence Requirements
Successful applicants must complete due diligence checks with BAVO before funding is released. This includes providing:
- A governing document or constitution
- Relevant policies
- Insurance certificates
- A recent bank statement to confirm account details
If your organisation does not have all required policies in place, your local CVC can support you to develop them.
Funding Priorities
Applications must meet one or more of the following fund values and priorities. Expenditure must be completed by 31 March 2026, although project delivery may continue beyond this date.
Key priorities include:
- Improving health protection for people and communities across the CTM region
- Increasing vaccination uptake, particularly among groups with the lowest uptake
- Improving access to testing and screening for infectious diseases
- Supporting infectious disease elimination programmes (e.g. hepatitis, HIV, TB)
- Improving sexual health outcomes linked to health protection (including barrier contraception, testing, education, and stigma reduction)
- Reducing health inequalities across CTM, including winter health messaging
The scheme particularly welcomes applications that:
- Support vaccination outreach, build vaccine confidence, and improve vaccine knowledge and uptake within specific CTM communities
- Address barriers to equitable access to health protection and vaccination
- Are collaborative, encouraging partnership working and meaningful engagement with service users
- Are inclusive of all CTM communities, both geographically and by community of interest
Funding Available
- Capital and revenue funding are available
- No minimum grant amount, provided the application meets fund priorities
- Maximum grant of £2,000 per organisation per year
- In exceptional circumstances, the panel may award more
Monitoring and Outcomes
To assess impact and beneficiary wellbeing, funded organisations must complete:
- A short baseline survey with beneficiaries at the start of the project
- A follow-up assessment at the end of the funded period
- A case study
Eligibility Criteria
Your organisation can apply if it:
- Is a Third Sector or voluntary (not-for-profit) organisation, independent of government and the private sector, including: Registered charity, Constituted group,Community Interest Company,Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Company limited by guarantee
- Delivers activities within the CTMUHB footprint only
- Has at least two unrelated authorised signatories
You cannot apply if you are:
- A political organisation
- A statutory organisation
- A private organisation or company
- An individual
Additional Requirements:
Applicant organisations must:
- Have a governing document
- Have a bank account
- Demonstrate the ability to manage a grant
- Have appropriate policies and insurance in place
- Address one or more fund priorities with evidence of need
If awarded funding, organisations must provide BAVO with copies of relevant policies, a recent bank statement, and current insurance certificates.
Assessment Process
Applications will be assessed by a panel comprising representatives from:
- Community Voluntary Councils (CVCs)
- CTMUHB Health Protection Strategic Team
