Bryncethin Community Centre, CF32 9YF

Deadline for booking appointments extended to Wednesday 26 February..don't miss out!

BAVO is pleased to announce a day of pre-booked appointments have been organised by BAVO in collaboration with BBC Children in Need. The opportunity to access this very popular funding programme is open to voluntary and community groups that work with disadvantaged children and young people.

Groups serving Bridgend County Borough will be able to apply for a 30 minute appointment with James Bird, a BBC Children in Need grants officer, to discuss the eligibility and potential of a project proposal.

BBC Children in Need supports stable, well-managed and effective organisations that work with disadvantaged children and young people aged 18 and under living in the UK (groups that work with people of all ages may also apply as long as the project is focused on work with those aged 18 and under). Disadvantaged children and young people include those affected by:

  • illness, distress, abuse, or neglect;
  • any kind of disability;
  • behavioural or psychological difficulties;
  • living in poverty or situations of deprivation.

The application should focus on the children your project will work with and the differences that your project will make for them. You should be able to clearly demonstrate the link between the disadvantage and how your project will change the lives of the children involved for the better. Where possible it should take into account their views and involve them in decisions that affect them.

BBC Children in Need funds two types of grants:

  • Main Grants Programme is for grants over £10,000 per year to support projects for up to three years;
  • Small Grants Programme supports projects for up to three years, and includes grants up to and including £10,000 per year.

Both of these programmes are currently open to applications.

Like many funders BBC Children in Need has a list of work that it will not fund as follows:

  • Overseas projects or trips;
  • Medical treatment/research;
  • Unspecified expenditure;
  • Deficit funding or repayment of loans;
  • Retrospective funding (projects taking place before the grant award date);
  • Projects that cannot start within 12 months of an award date;
  • Distribution to another/other organisation(s);
  • General appeals or endowment funds;
  • Relief of statutory responsibility;
  • Promotion of religion;
  • Projects for pregnancy testing or advice, information or counselling on pregnancy choices;
  • Individuals (unless an eligible organisation is applying on their behalf);
  • Building projects costing over £20,000;
  • General awareness-raising work;
  • Bursaries, sponsored places, fees or equivalent.

To help you check if you are eligible to apply for funding please read the following carefully:

  • Applicants must be a constituted not for profit group with a bank or building society account and at least two unrelated cheque signatories;
  • Applicants must have a written Safeguarding Policy;
  • Applicants must have adequate and appropriate insurance.

More information is available at: www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey

Places are limited. Organisations who wish to attend our funding surgery must be available anytime between 9.30am – 4pm on Thursday 5 March 2020.

To apply for an appointment, please forward an outline of your project proposal (no more than one side of A4) by no later than WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2020 preferably by e-mail, to [email protected]

Your application should focus on the children your project will work with and the differences that your project will make for them. You should be able to clearly demonstrate the link between the disadvantage and how your project will change the lives of the children involved for the better.

Confirmation of your actual appointment will be advised to successful applicants by 27 February 2020. For further details call BAVO, T: 01656 810400 or E: [email protected]

Mae’n bleser gan BAVO gyhoeddi bod diwrnod o apwyntiadau wedi’i drefnu ar y cyd â BBC Plant mewn Angen. Mae cyfle i grwpiau gwirfoddol a chymunedol sy’n gweithio gyda phlant a phobl ifanc dan anfantais gael mynediad at y rhaglen gyllido hynod boblogaidd hon.

Bydd grwpiau sy’n gwasanaethu Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Penybont ar Ogwr yn gallu gwneud cais am apwyntiad 30 munud gyda James Bird, swyddog grantiau BBC Plant mewn Angen, i drafod cymhwysedd a photensial cynnig am brosiect.

Mae BBC Plant mewn Angen yn cefnogi mudiadau sefydlog, effeithiol sy’n cael eu rheoli’n dda, sy’n gweithio gyda phlant a phobl ifanc dan anfantais, 18 oed ac iau, sy’n byw yn y DU (mae modd i grwpiau sy’n gweithio gyda phobl o bob oed wneud cais, ar yr amod fod y prosiect yn canolbwyntio ar waith gyda’r rheini sy’n 18 oed ac iau). Dylai’r cais ganolbwyntio ar y plant y bydd eich prosiect yn gweithio gyda nhw a'r gwahaniaeth y bydd eich prosiect yn ei wneud iddynt hwy. Dylech allu dangos yn glir y cysylltiad rhwng yr anfantais a sut y bydd eich prosiect yn newid bywydau’r plant dan sylw er gwell. Pan fo hynny’n bosib, dylai ystyried eu barn a’u cynnwys yn y penderfyniadau sy’n effeithio arnynt.
