Village Hotel, Swansea

At this year's Peoples and Homes Conference, Shelter Cymru will be wrestling with the difficult questions:

"What more can we do to end homelessness in Wales?"

"What powers should we be seeking from Westminster?"

"How high can we aim?"

Over the last year, the public debate around housing has exploded. More and more people are questioning why homes are scarce and expensive. Rough sleeping is in the news almost every day.

Shelter Cymru will be looking at how to harness this renewed public concern to get things done.

The Commission for Justice set up by Welsh Government to examine the operation of the justice system in Wales, will be at the conference. They will be asking what can be done to improve housing justice and what scope there is for further devolution.  Hear progress, ask questions and take part in discussion.

Speakers include:

  • Evrah Rose – A social injustice spoken word performer from North Wales;
  • Dr Anthony Ince, Cardiff University - How the far right in the UK and Europe have used housing issues to further their cause;
  • Julie James AM - Minister for Housing and Regeneration focuses on her priorities for housing and homelessness prevention;
  • Dr Cliona Ni Cheallaigh, hospital consultant, St James’s  Dublin and pioneer in Inclusion Healthcare;
  • Fiona King, Shelter Scotland sharing lessons from Scotland’s reforms of the private rented sector.

Shelter Cymru is also providing 10% off attendees order by using the code for a limited time: Access30.
