Substance misuse

Substance misuse relates to the addiction and dependency of drugs and alcohol causing negative outcomes for individuals, their family, friends and the wider community.

Substance misuse can be much stigmatised and by association, those who care for users may feel that they are stigmatised too. Carers often describe feelings of shame and isolation.
