Community Companions volunteers enjoy catch up on St David's Day!

Date published: 02/03/2017

Our Community Companions volunteer befrienders enjoyed a cuppa, cake and catch up on St David's Day at People sitting around tableBridgend Volunteer Centre.

The morning proved to be a great chance to catch up with fellow volunteers, chat about their experiences and enjoy a cuppa and a Welsh cake!

Do you have an hour to spare? BAVO's Community Companions over 50s befriending scheme is recruiting volunteers befrienders. Imagine going days or weeks without seeing somebody or not being able to get out of the house. An hour of your time to visit someone in their house or get out and about can make a huge difference.

By becoming a volunteer befriender you can experience first hand the difference that you can make to people’s lives. You can help older people meet others, improve their access to local services and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

“Volunteering for community companions I completed many courses.  I am so thrilled it has helped greatly to get me where I am today.  I have voluntary skills behind me that no one can take away from me.”

Our waiting list is getting bigger and we need people with big hearts to help out. Out of pocket travel expenses are covered and full training given. An hour of your day really goes a long way!
