DAVAN Forum
This Forum brings together workers, volunteers, and voluntary organisations that are involved in supporting people and/or working to combat substance misuse issues whether it be tackling the issue within the Borough, or tackling it within their own organisations and service users.
The forum meets monthly and again provides opportunity to share information and feed into strategic planning mechanisms and the work of the Substance Misuse Action Team (SMAT) for Bridgend County, ensuring the wide range of services are complimentary to each other and not duplicating.

Bridgend Involvement Group (BIG)
The Bridgend Involvement Group (BIG) provides a platform for those who have used drug and alcohol support services or are entering those services in order to promote their involvement as partners in alcohol and drug treatment provision.
They also gather and represent the views of service users to service providers and commissioners with regard to policy, strategy and decision making and contribute to the principles of care planning, ensuring that service users have choice at every stage of their recovery, enabling voluntary sustained control over substance use and care plans that match individual needs.
BIG also promote service user involvement, on the road to recovery, as a means of gaining the necessary life skills for re-entry into society and for the improved self identity that comes with a productive and meaningful role.
BIG also run a recovery group called ‘LIFE CHANGES’ which meets each Wednesday afternoon. It is an informal group and if you are not used to peer support groups you will not find it challenging. The group does not compete with AA or NA indeed some are AA members, If you are interested call with no obligation — Tel, John on 07837549547
