Partnerships

Children and Young People Partnership.

The Children and Young People Partnership coordinates inter-agency planning and development of services for children from 0 to 25 years old.

The Children and Young People Partnership recognises the need to put children and young people at the centre of service planning and that families are of prime importance to this age group. Supporting families, in many cases, will be necessary to improve outcomes for children.

The Children and Young People Partnership will ensure that children and young people:

  • Are listened to and are able to contribute to and influence planning and development;
  • Are able to develop to their full potential, particular attention will be paid to their early formative years and pre-natal care;
  • Receive high quality services matched to their needs;
  • Can access services that promote equality and counter the effects of disadvantage;
  • Receive proactive, preventative services.

The Children and Young People's Framework states that every child is entitled to:

  • a flying start in life and the best possible basis for their future growth and development;
  • access to a comprehensive range of educational, training and learning opportunities, including the acquisition of essential personal and social skills;
  • the best possible physical and mental, social and emotional health, including freedom from abuse, victimisation and exploitation;
  • access to safe play, leisure, sporting and cultural activities;
  • be listened to, treated with respect, and have their race, faith and cultural identity recognised;
  • enjoy the benefit of a safe home and community that supports physical and emotional well-being;
  • intervention to ensure they are not disadvantaged by poverty.

Youth Homelessnees Group

The above multi-agency group, a sub group of the CYPP, is a task group convened as a result of the “Southwark Judgement”, which in broad terms, makes the accommodation for 16-17 year olds the responsibility of Social Services rather than Housing. The group feeds back inti the CYYP and Housing.

The group  is exploring new initiatives and funding to ensure that the needs of the above group are best met.
